Parylene Coating
Parylene is the generic name for Para-Xylylene, a unique polymer series that provides
thermal, moisture, and dielectric barrier to any vacuum compatible substrate.
Step 1. Vaporizer
Parylene is vaporized from its solid dimer form. This is accomplished by the application of heat under vacuum
Step 2. Pyrolizer
Pyrolysis of the gaseous form of the dimer into a monomer is achieved by using a high temperature tube furnace.
Step 3. Deposition
Parylene deposits as a polymer onto the substrate in the vacuum chamber at a room temperature .
Parylene is biocompatible and has a high mechanical strength.
During parylene deposition, all sides of an object to be encapsulated are uniformly impinged by the gaseous monomer.
This is responsible for the truly conformal nature of the coating.
– Inconsistent
– Pin-holes
– Thermal, Mechanical deformation
– Truly conformal (pin-hole Free)
– Ultra-thin layer that are chemically inert
– No thermal nor mechanical deformations
- Excellent protection against gases
- Excellent corrosion resistance
- Resistant to a wide range of chemicals
- Constant coating thicknesses
- Resistant to environmental influences and UV radiation
- Low dielectric permittivity and dielectric coefficient.
- Conforming to various industrial standards.
